<abstract xml:lang="en">

The article examines the manifestations of motivation in English-language academic communication. The aim of the study is to explore the main motivational strategies implemented in English-language graduation speeches at university ceremonies. The study employs a descriptive method, as well as contextual and discourse analysis. The main findings include the following: it has been proven that the use of motivational strategies in English-language speeches is the result of deliberate linguistic construction. It has been established that personal pronouns such as “I”, “we”, and “you” are used in motivational strategies, as well as metaphors, lexical antitheses, imperatives, rhetorical questions, lexical and syntactic repetitions, quotes from famous people’s speeches, references to historical events, and some other linguistic devices. The findings can be used in academic communication courses, pragmalinguistics, and the theory and practice of intercultural communication.
