This article focusses on the culture-specific vocabulary of an American political discourse. The purpose of the study is to analyze culture-specific lexical units functioning in public speeches of current American politicians. The following methods have been used in the research: a contextual analysis method, an interpretation method and a descriptive method. The main results include the systematization, classification and contextual analysis of lexical units that contain national and cultural components in their semantics in the modern American political discourse. In public speeches of American politicians, the functions of each of the six identified groups of culture-specific vocabulary (onyms, symbols and stereotypes, phraseological units, metaphors, proverbs, archetypes) have been defined and described. The obtained data can be used for further study of the culture-specific vocabulary of American political discourse based on public speeches of new US politicians, as well as the basis for studying the culture-specific vocabulary of other discourses.
